CEO Directorate Intern
About the Role
Working closely with our CEO, Rich Stockdale, you’ll help shape the ideas and stories behind a business determined to change how the world values nature. Expect big questions, unfamiliar territory and the occasional idea that sounds a little impossible. From finding the words that make people think differently to helping shape the stories in our next book, you’ll have plenty to get your teeth into. Bring your curiosity, your ambition and a willingness to get stuck in.
You’ll work with our incredible marketing team and support Rich Stockdale closely on campaigns, from podcast support to article edits. Alongside that, you’ll research ideas, prepare briefings and take responsibility for parts of the executive team’s priority projects. You’ll see how decisions are made and help put them into practice.
We’re looking for someone ambitious enough to want this responsibility and willing to work hard at it. You don’t need previous marketing or executive support experience. Show us what you’ve committed yourself to, how you’ve improved and what you’ve achieved.
About You
Environment
A love for the natural world and rural environment, and a commitment to its ecological restoration.
Curious about brands and storytelling. You notice what makes people pay attention and want to help more people understand our work.
Impact
High standards, with the discipline to match. You check the detail, seek feedback and take responsibility for finishing work properly.
Determined to become exceptional at what you do. You can show us that drive through sport, music, dance, work, study or something you’ve built yourself.
A clear communicator who enjoys finding the right words and can turn an unfamiliar subject into something others understand.
Adventure
Excited by variety, from developing a campaign to helping deliver an event or getting to grips with a new project.
Already experimenting with AI and technology, and curious about where they can improve creative work and how a business operates.
Quick to adapt when priorities change. You ask what matters most, organise your work and keep people informed.
Together
Confident to ask questions and offer a different view, including when you’re working with Rich and our senior leaders. Just as willing to listen and change your mind.
Generous with your ideas and your time. You care about helping the people around you do their best work.
And let’s be honest, you have to be really kind too. Sharing snacks on long journeys or a packed lunch in the driving rain is mandatory!
You don’t need to tick every box above, and you don’t need to look or sound a certain way to belong here. We want a team with a wide range of lived and learnt experiences. Whatever your background, stage of your career, knowledge and experience, we’d love to hear what you could contribute.
Key Responsibilities
Campaigns and Content: Help plan and deliver campaigns with our marketing team. Research, write and produce content for our channels, including the Second Nature podcast and Perpetuity articles.
Strategic Projects: Take responsibility for defined pieces of the executive team’s priority projects. Research the question, make a recommendation and help deliver the agreed next steps.
Working Across the Business: Collaborating across all parts of the Oxygen ecosystem so our campaigns reflect the priorities and successes across our estates and teams.
AI and Technology: Implement approaches that will improve research, content production or everyday work. Check the quality of the results and help colleagues adopt what proves useful.
Taking Ownership: Pick up any new opportunities as they arise, agree what needs doing and see the work through. Bring the same care to the practical details as the bigger ideas.
About Us
We're building the UK's first genuine Natural Capital portfolio: acquiring large landscapes, restoring them at scale, and proving that nature recovery can create real, investable value.
Across our 12 estates, that means using restoration to create premium natural capital products like carbon credits, biodiversity units, and nature credits while also exploring regenerative agriculture, renewable energy and ecotourism experiences (you can check them out at Oxygen Escapes).
In just five years, we've grown to managing over 50,000 acres and a valuation of hundreds of millions of pounds. By 2030, our ambition is to have 250,000 acres under restoration while to connect helping millions more acres for nature.
Our mission is simple: prove that restoring ecosystems can not only deliver transformative environmental and social impact, but also financial returns.
Our work hasn't gone unnoticed. In 2022, we were named Start-Up of the Year at the Business Leader South West Awards, followed by Team of the Year at the 2023 Edie Awards and our nature funding agreement with Triodos won ESG Deal of the Year at the 2024 Insider South West Dealmakers Awards. Our founder and CEO, Dr Rich Stockdale, is featured in the ENDS Power List as one of the top 100 UK environmental professionals driving significant impact.
